It is not awkward. What you had seen the other day was a battle between me and my son.

His name was Mordred, and he was a homunculus created by my sister from my blood, a child she grew within her own womb. He had always been ashamed of his unnatural birth, and his true wish was for me to acknowledge him as my son. To that end, he wished for me to grant him the throne.

But, as king, I could not show him any more favour than I could anyone else. More importantly, he wanted the mantle of the king for the wrong reasons. A king must place his country and his people first; Mordred only chased after me. He was a great knight, but not a king.

I wish that I could have made him understand. But in the end, I could not.
