Huh... my hand is feeling better. I still need to see about a prosthetic for the missing one, though. Using Heaven's Fang with one hand is proving to be far more difficult than I imagined in actual combat. Frustrating, but... heh, I guess this is part of my penance. Ah well...

A lot of new people, eh? That was sudden... the ghosts leave and then we get more residents. I suppose that makes sense, though. Um, HELLO! My name is Tir McDohl, an officer of the police force here, ha ha... I'm not all that great at introductions, but I hope we can all be friends and help work together to make this place generally better!

Hmm... My soul feels somehow less burdened. I don't get it, but... I guess it really is the people you know who make you who you are.

Thanks everyone. For being there for me. I won't wallow in that state again. Not so long as I can help it.

It's alright, I don't need you to make anything for me. [Gracia gave him a quick smile and stepped inside the room. Though she was eying his 'handicap' than anything else]

How are you doing, Tir?

-Tir notices of course. Most people tended to stare at where his right hand used to be these days. He'd learned to not let it bother him...-

I just got done with some of my daily exercises, actually. No training, though, until the small wounds on my left hand heal. Kazuki's orders. He's right of course, as I can't afford to lose another, ha ha!

[Gracia smiled a little, but her gaze seemed to stay on his right hand--or lack of thereof. She shook her head slightly and giggled sheepishly.]

I'm sorry, it was rude of me to stare. It's just very frightening that you had to go through losing...Oh, anyway. I brought these for you! [She then produces a few sprigs of herbs from her pocket and gives it to Tir]

They'll help with the healing. And don't even say you won't take it, I'll have none of that. [She feigned a stern face, but proceeded to smile at him once more.]

-Tir takes the sprigs with his still bandaged hand, blinking for a bit. He hadn't been expecting a gift, much less something this practical. How had she found these? And shouldn't she hold onto them for an emergency? Then again, refusing them seemed impossible at this point...-

R-right... Thank you, Lady Gracia. I'll be able to return to work much more quickly this way.

[She nodded and walked around the room, thinking about asking him how he injured himself and lost his hand. Then again, it's pretty rude to ask those things, so Gracia settled on small talk until he told her on his own.]

Are you and Kazuki the only two living here?

So far, at least. Though I sort of miss having Maora and Viki living with us.

-He... probably wouldn't tell her about it. Avoiding the subject was something he'd gotten rather skilled at-

I see--oh! You know her? [Gracia glanced behind her and eventually spun around before continuing.] Viki is Mago's new pal, right? I want to meet her.

I've... known her for some time, actually. She's always sort of looked at me as her protector... not so much anymore, but it's understandable.

-"Because I killed her," his own thoughts finished. Because of that, things would never be the same again no matter what either of them said or did-

Oh? Why not? Does she have a new one or did she want to protect herself now? [By this time, Gracia already helped herself to a seat. Folding her hands neatly on her lap, she smiled afterwards.]

As long as you're still friends, I guess it doesn't matter, right?

Well, she has Mago and...

Yeah... we're still friends...

-He wasn't doing such a good job of hiding how much he missed her, though-

[She blinked at his downcast face.]

...You miss her a lot, don't you? What happened, then? Why aren't you two as close as before?

-He looks at where his right hand used to be... almost scornfully. He still remembers that day, clear as if it was still happening. He recalls the look on her face... the forced smile that hid all of the pain he knew she had felt-

I... I killed her.

[Gracia stood up rapidly with wide eyes staring at Tir. What? Impulsively, she ran over to him and grabbed his left hand, while gently dragging him to take a seat with her.]

You killed her? But she's right there and--and, I--oh, tell me everything!

[...Okay, so that was a little unexpected.]

-Tir winced as she took his left hand. Certainly she hadn't squeezed it hard enough to draw pain to the nearly healed wounds, but more that... he hadn't wanted the physical contact. And before he could be dragged completely, he pulled away-

I don't want to talk about it...

[When Gracia saw him pull back, she frowned. How in the world could that have happened? She bit her lip and started to reply, but all she could come up with was silence.]

I...I suppose that was foolish of me. I'm sorry, Tir. It was a shock, that's all. Did I hurt you? [And she meant that in more ways than one. She wanted to ask more about it, but he was uncomfortable. He'll tell her one of these days, she mused.]

N-no, you meant well, it's just...

-he let out a heavy sigh-

I'm not ready to talk about it. If you're really curious, the police force has the full report...
