I can't....I can't help but be reminded of it all...those who fought and died so that others might see and be inspired...to rise against those who oppress...

I don't really...know anyone involved. I mean, I know some of them, but I'm not close to any of them, and...well...

"People need heroes" was what she told me back then. Maybe...just maybe that guy was a hero.

Not everyone'll get it. In the morning, there will be a bunch of people praising and ridiculing him.. I don't think he'll care about either of those groups. He'll care about the ones who don't have to say anything, or the ones who understand.

That is how I and one other present in this city exist. It is rather complicated, but were there not a need, we would not exist.

As to what has happened, I fear that I cannot truly speak on such a matter. Occurrences such as what had transpired are the way of my world, both when I lived and even in what is for me the distant future. But I can say this much: such people are what make up the Spirits of Heroes.

Forgive me. It is somewhat difficult to explain the nature of what I am.

Where I am from, there are many different sorts of spirits, most notably elemental spirits. There are spirits of nature, which are the will of the planet. But there are ones that are the elemental force of humanity itself, those who accomplished great deeds during their lifetime and were revered after their death. As I understand it, the hopes and wishes of mankind create a sort of receptacle for this force, and the spirit becomes what is called a Heroic Spirit.

Though, I have to admit that I am an exception to this rule. I had made a contract with the world to become a Heroic Spirit, so I had not yet died before I became one.

But what this means beyond this is that as long as humankind is what it is, that need will always be present.
